For the past decade, on New Year's Eve, my husband and I have engaged in a ritual - our New Year Reflections. The pic above is from last night while I was doing this, sitting on the beach, waiting for the NYE fireworks.
It's a super-interesting exercise which brings awareness to the patterns and eddies of life.
As I noted down the key events and descriptors for the year, it reinforced my maxim: make your plans and then hold them lightly. This year holding surprises and twists that I didn't see coming - like almost every other year!
As I noted the loss of a friend to cancer, and a Buddhist teacher who was in the process of dying as I wrote, it reminded me to cherish the fact that I'm still here, and right-size the worries in my life.
And as I pondered the year ahead and set some intentions, I tuned in to what's important right now, and how well, or otherwise, I'm honouring that in my life.
Thank you for sharing the journey with me in 2024. I'd like to share our ritual with you as a gift.
Click here to download a free copy of our NYE Reflections. Grab a pen and paper, or your laptop, and let it guide you through a mindful transition to 2025.
You can do this on your own, or with a partner or friend. And make sure you keep it somewhere find-able so that you can look back at it after your next NY reflection.
If you think of any more killer questions, please do share them with me!
Finally, thank you so much to everyone who did 'the big 3' for me with my TEDx talk. In the first week since launch it's had over 20,000 views!!! I'm absolutely blown away!
If you haven't had time yet, I'd love you to help me keep the momentum going - to help more people hear this important message about flourishing as a human being. To remind you, the Big 3 are:
watch it all the way through (important not to bail out before the end)
hit 'like', and
make a (preferably positive) comment.
Here's the link again.
I hope you have a fabulous 2025.
